Eco-Friendly Condo Units Include Smart Car

ASHEVILLE, NC-North Market Street Investments, a locally based partnership, plans to build a 13-story, 10-unit condominium building at 73 North Market Street. The project will be constructed according to the US Green Building Council’s LEED standards, and is set to feature the world’s first residential parking structure designed exclusively for one make and model of car–the Smart Fortwo eco-friendly vehicle. The entire development is estimated to cost $23 million, Jeremy Goldstein, managing member of North Market Street Investments, tells GlobeSt.com. Construction on the tower will begin after contracts for six of the units are signed, with an expected completion date 24 months later, he says.

Individual units at 73 North Market Street are 2,300 square feet each and cost from $2.1 to $2.6 million. The purchase of a condo includes a voucher for one Smart Fortwo car, a 95% recyclable vehicle that emits up to 50% less polluting emissions than an average car, says Goldstein. Each unit will also have access to a vehicle lift that opens directly into each residence. Additional luxury amenities include a green rooftop lounge, private spa, fitness center, pool, private terraces and a separate guest residence that can be used for visitors.
