Centene Gets Go-Ahead for Smaller HQ

CLAYTON, MO-The new plan reduces the total construction cost from $215 million to $186 million and brings Koman on as an investor.

CLAYTON, MO-Last night city officials approved a revised plan for the Centene Corp. headquarter project. The new plan shrinks the size of the building by four floors and manages to reduce the cost from $215 million to $186 million, according to reports. Centene is a provider of Medicaid-based services in Georgia, Indiana, New Jersey, Ohio, Texas and Wisconsin.

Locally-based Clayco has teamed with Chicago-based U.S. Equities and St. Louis-based Koman Group to develop the project. Koman’s involvement was part of the revised plan, but it’s total dollar investment in the project was unspecified.

The 20-story mixed-use development at the corner of Forsyth Boulevard and Hanley Road will expand the current Centene HQ, add retail and office space, as well as a parking garage.
