The clubhouse is part of the conversion of landmarked buildings here that once housed a pencil factory. In 1847, entrepreneur Joseph Dixon moved his business to Downtown Jersey City where he manufactured several products, including the yellow Dixon Ticonderoga pencil.

The restoration makes use of the architectural details, period brickworks and wrought-iron railings of the original Romanesque Revival-style buildings. "We are extremely excited to open our club this spring, which will be a major drawing point for a large majority of the community's residents and prospective buyers," says Greg Berger, principal of Elmsford, NY-based Robert Martin Co., in a statement. The clubhouse is adapted from the community's historic Powerhouse Building.

In all, there are 467 condos, ranging in size from studios to one, two and three-bedroom layouts, with 100 penthouse residences. More than 140 units have already been sold, according to spokesperson for the owner. Prices start at the low $200,000 mark.
