WEST MELBOURNE, FL-HHGregg Inc. has expanded to 110 stores in nine states with the addition of two new locations this month here and in Apex, NC. The Indianapolis, IN-based appliance and electronics retailer now has 13 stores in Florida nearly a year after establishinga 282,126-square-foot central distribution center along Interstate 4 in Davenport.
The West Melbourne location, at 205 Palm Bay Road, joins a dozen others scattered throughout the northern half of Florida, from Jacksonville to Lakeland. HHGregg estimates that it has created 400 jobs statewide over the past year.
The Apex store, at 1275 Haddon Hall Road, is the 14th to open in North Carolina, where HHGregg also has a 108,000-square-foot distribution center in Raleigh. Like Florida, store locations in the state have targeted major metropolitan areas.
"The opening of these new stores allows us to leverage the investments we have already made in our distribution centers and to bring greater choices and an enjoyable shopping experience to consumers in both areas," Dennis May, HHGregg president and COO, stated in a release. A company spokeswoman tells GlobeSt.com that no other store openings are currently pending.
