Bamamobile I can’t wait. We are in for a whole new regime in Detroit, and leading the charge is the West Wing. Over the past two days, the Obama Administration has axed the head of GM, is forcing a Fiat deal for Chrysler, and threatens both with bankruptcy. The federal government under Obama is taking giant steps in the banking arena, now in the automobile industry, and probably soon, in the healthcare sector. The far-reaching effects of these moves will only begin to play out in the near term, and the ripple effect on the real estate industry will be profound, when you consider how all the dots connect in and around our business. There is reason to pause, as you think about your strategy for the next cycle. In the meantime, I wonder if we’ll end up with our version of the Volkswagen — the Bamamobile, a car for “the people”.
