Columbus, OH-based Pizzuti is working with Space Florida, a group based at Kennedy Space Center to strengthen the state's position in aerospace research, investment, exploration and commerce. As master developer, Pizzuti will secure tenants for Exploration Park and will also maintain and manage the property.

"We view this as an opportunity to build upon the rich history of space exploration and high-tech research that already exists at the Kennedy Space Center," Ron Pizzuti, chairman and CEO, stated in a release. The company will direct the project from its Orlando office, with the first building slated for completion in 2011.

Exploration Park, a registered trademark of NASA, is designed to be in close proximity to existing launch and payload processing facilities, providing a direct benefit to tenants with business models that include gaining access to space. The full value of the contract between Pizzuti and Space Florida has not yet been determined.

Pizzuti claims 32 years of commercial real estate development experience, with more than 40 million square feet of office and industrial space valued at $1.6 billion. The company announced plans in February for an 11-story, 150,000-square-foot class A office building at 777 N. Orange Ave. in Downtown Orlando to open in early 2011.
