NJSCPA initially leased headquarters space at 425 Eagle Rock in 1989. At the time, Seton Hall University owned the 126,710-square-foot property, which Bellmead developed in 1987 as the last building in its 280 Corporate Center. Principal Life Insurance acquired it in 1997 and immediately appointed Baumstein as exclusive leasing agent. Christian Politan and Matthew Seltzer of Cushman & Wakefield's East Rutherford office also serve on Baumstein's team.
"The New Jersey Society of CPAs has worked with Rich Baumstein and Cushman & Wakefield for 20 years, through four successful amendments to the original lease," says Ellen McSherry, the society's associate executive director. "Rich is extremely responsive and has provided us with great guidance."
Currently, the New Jersey Society of CPAs occupies 18,000 square feet. According to McSherry, the layout is conducive to the organization's administrative operations, as well as versatile training and meeting space. NJSCPA is comprised of more than 15,500 certified public accountants and accounting students. Founded in 1898, it is one of the largest and oldest state CPA societies in the nation.
"Long-term relationships like the one I have with Ellen and the New Jersey Society of CPAs are among the best aspects of a career in commercial real estate brokerage," Baumstein says. "It is gratifying to watch a client prosper and grow through the years, particularly in the case of the NJSCPA because this organization plays such an important role for a key New Jersey industry."
425 Eagle Rock Ave. sits between two full exits on Interstate 280. The building features a marble façade, atrium entrance and nine-foot ceilings. Tenants there receive on-site property management and food service.
