NJM Insurance Group is said to be the largest provider of property-casualty insurance in the state. The new $48-million center will serve as its southern regional operations facility.

"[There are] currently [about] 180 employees in a leased facility in Hammonton, and they will move to the new location when it opens in December 2010," says a spokesman for NJM Insurance. "[The company] also will hire four to five employees for the branch of NJM Bank, which doesn't currently exist in Hammonton but will open in the new facility."

Gale has been involved in the pre-construction phase of the project since 2007. Situated on 56 acres purchased by the insurance firm, the building will consist of administrative offices, a call center, cafeteria, a central utility plant and a retail bank with a drive-up ATM. The structure will incorporate energy-efficient cooling, heating and lighting systems.

If the insurer decides to expand on the site in the future, the building's three-story atrium can connect with an additional 100,000-square-foot building. NJM also has offices in West Trenton and Parsippany.
