According to figures released in March by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, public sector jobs grew in February, with the government adding 9,000 jobs and the education and health service fields upping staff by 26,000. In January, the government sector added 31,000 new jobs.
"As the public sector expands and reorganizes under the Obama administration, we're seeing more and more workers who need temporary housing while they receive training or await transfer to a new office," says Lea Anne Welsh, president of the AVE division at Korman Communities. "Our AVE line of communities offers a perfect solution to those needs."
Korman's three AVE communities in New Jersey--Clifton, Union and Somerset--feature one and two-bedroom residences, furnished and unfurnished, and take advantage of Korman's flexible lease terms, meaning a resident can stay for 30 days, three months or three years. Lease agreements can be completed overnight.
"To take advantage of the public sector growth, Korman has modified its rate structure to fit with the per diem rates of government workers," Welsh tells GlobeSt.com. "And we've reached out to numerous federal and state agencies, like the FBI and Treasury Department, to make them aware of what AVE has to offer."
AVE community residents receive 24-hour concierge service, daily valet dry cleaning and maid service. Each AVE community features an on-site pool, a business center with private Apple computers, a conference room with presentation equipment and teleconferencing capabilities, a multimedia movie theater with a 118-inch screen, a fitness center and private parking.
Korman's AVE communities are an extension of its NYC-launched AKA line. In 2005, Korman bought four residential properties in Midtown Manhattan that were slated for condo conversions. According to Welsh, Korman transformed these properties into extended-stay hotels, catering to guests who require lodging for more than 30 days. "The AKA line brought a new level of luxury living and convenience into Manhattan, filling a need that had gone underserved for years," she says.
Located at 743 Passaic Ave., Korman Communities Clifton is the showcase of the AVE concept, and comprises 258 suites, 115 of them furnished. Furnished suites can be rented from $145 a day; unfurnished suites can be leased on a yearly basis starting at $2,350 a month.
Korman Communities Somerset is located on Pierce St., just off of Route 287, while the Union property is located at 1070 Morris Ave.
