Old Friends Last week, I visited with an out-of-work executive to discuss the market and to exchange ideas on how he should best approach his job search. During our conversation, he mentioned that a surprising by-product of his networking has been the outpouring of support from old friends and former colleagues with whom he had–during his employment–lost touch. I’ve heard this from other people as well. There is a very positive, ‘can do’, and ‘must help’ attitude out there among professionals who recognize how difficult, and extraordinarily frustrating it is to be unemployed, especially at a time like this. With this in mind, for job seekers, I suggest that you aggressively work your relationships. For everyone else, go out of your way to lend a hand, because what goes around, comes around.
