Specifically, development of the community's infrastructure is complete. The foundation and structural steel is in place for 10 independent living cottages, which are already through the framing process.
Located on a 43-acre campus on the former site of a lumber mill dating to the mid-1700s, Crane's Mill offers independent living, assisted living and skilled nursing care. LSM/NJ opened Crane's Mill in August 1998. Once Phases II and III of Crane's Mill are complete, the community will consist of 282 independent living units, 48 assisted living units, 18 dementia units and 66 units for skilled nursing and rehabilitation services.
Taking place alongside Passaic Ave., Phase II construction includes the addition of 66 independent living apartments with 47 underground parking spaces, as well as 10 cottages, each featuring an attached garage. The independent living units will be located in a two-story building that connects to the existing central facility.
Phase III is the assisted living component of Crane's Mill, which consists of 20,000 square feet of new and renovated space. Specifically, Del-Sano is building a new wing to house the memory support area as well as a dementia courtyard. The company is also renovating the assisted living common areas. As part of Phase III, 60 existing assisted living units will be converted into 48 assisted living units and 18 dementia units.
According to Del-Sano Contracting president Robert Montesano, "communication among the architect, engineers and our construction team helps ensure that the project is moving ahead as planned." He also tells GlobeSt.com that the use of panelized construction on the Crane's Mill project "allows us to work within a tighter timeframe and with greater accuracy."
