Salcido established Panattoni's local office three years ago. He says the new position with Southern Commercial allows him to return to the transition side of the business since development has slowed so much in the current economy, particularly build-to-suit and speculative projects.

"Timing is everything in this business," Salcido tells GlobeSt.com. "For the next couple or three years, transactions will be more fruitful than looking for development opportunities. This just felt like it was the best fit for me."

Salcido, who also serves as an editorial advisor to Real Estate Florida magazine, previously handled Progress Energy's commercial real estate activities including facility management, disposition, acquisition and development. He has developed and acquired 3.2 million square feet of corporate real estate space throughout his career.

"Salcido brings a seasoned corporate owner's perspective combined with a sterling record of performance in landlord/tenant representation," says Bo Bradford, a founding principal of Southern Commercial who heads the company with Tom McFadden. "As such, he represents a vital complement to our team as we continue to provide unsurpassed service and expertise."

Southern Commercial was founded in August 2007 and has completed at least 100 industrial and office transactions totaling 2.8 million square feet and valued at more than $107 million. Salcido served as president of Naiop Central Florida in 2007.
