Managing partner Benjamin Levin, who serves as the partner-in-charge of the firm's franchise and distribution group, led the members, which are reportedly going out on their own, out the door.
While things are still said to be up in the air in terms of who is leaving the firm or whether associates will follow the group, Levin, partners Richard Hluchan, William Hyland Jr. and Mark Shapiro and senior counsel Harvey Shapiro, S. David Brandt and Edward A. Penberthy are said to definitely be on the list. Levin and Harvey Shapiro, who practices in the area of family wealth management, are the only two who don't have a real estate practice.
