Japanese Consulate Renews 57,000-SF Space

NEW YORK CITY-The Consulate General of Japan in New York has renewed its lease of two full floors at 299 Park Ave. for 10 more years. The consulate has been housed in the 57,286-square-foot space on the 42-story office tower’s 18th and 19th floors since 1989.

Lease terms were not disclosed. However, Mariyon Robertson, vice chairman/principal at Colliers ABR, says in a release that “the option of staying in this location was especially important to the consulate and the change in the market for the past several months led to a favorable result for them.” Asking rents at the 1.2-million-square-foot property, located at the corner of 49th Street and Park Avenue, range from $60 to $125 per square foot.
