A.O. Smith, a top manufacturer of electric motors for residential and commercial buildings, has been a tenant of Denver-based ProLogis for the past eight years. It will continue distribution and operations at Building 17 at Interchange City, which totals 3.5 million square feet in 23 buildings.

"Our relationship with ProLogis in Nashville is very strong and this contributed to our decision to remain in the distribution center," John Mears, facilities manager for A.O. Smith, stated in a release. "This building and its location in central Tennessee are key components of our distribution strategy."

As part of the lease extension, ProLogis has committed to retrofit the building's lighting system by installing T5 lights with photocells. The new system has the potential to save up to 70% in energy costs.

ProLogis is the largest industrial landlord in the Nashville metropolitan area, with more than 5.6 million square feet and 98% occupancy. Major local tenants include Singer Sewing Co., Falken Tire Corp. and International Paper.
