The curvilinear building on a private peninsula along the Boca Raton Inlet topped off last December and construction cranes were taken down in April. Scaffolding on the building's north side, overlooking the adjacent hotel pool and cabanas, will also come down soon.
"For projects in South Florida, getting the envelope closed up before the tropical storm season is an even more essential plateau to reach," says Jamie Telchin, president of development with Boca Raton-based LXR Luxury Resorts & Hotels. "This allows for finishing of the interiors of the residences with drywall and marble flooring."
The building's elevators are also operational, and the lobby and amenity spaces are progressing as planned, Telchin says. Soon its air-conditioning system will be turned on, allowing for other interior finishes that are sensitive to humidity.
One Thousand Ocean offers 52 one- and two-story beach villas blended with residences and penthouses averaging 4,000 square feet, with private terraces of 1,200 square feet each. Prices range from $2.7 million to at least $15 million, with more than half the residences currently under contract.
"A project directly on the ocean seems to be the outlier to an otherwise challenging real estate market," Telchin says. "We continue to experience remarkable success."
