Columbia Takes Full Floor on East Side

NEW YORK CITY-Columbia University Medical Center's ophthalmology department has leased 10,725 square feet in a 15-year deal at 880 Third Ave.

NEW YORK CITY-In what the property’s owners call an affirmation of their decision to do capital improvements, Columbia University has taken the entire 10,725-square-foot second floor at 880 Third Ave in a 15-year deal. The space will serve as the new location for Columbia University Medical Center’s department of ophthalmology, which will be moving from its current location at 16 E. 60th St.

“Our highly successful retail leasing campaign combined with the continuing absorption of our office space at 880 Third, where only two floors remain available, clearly validates our decision to upgrade and modernize this important property,” says Jack Resnick & Sons president Jonathan Resnick in a release. The Resnick organization is conducting a makeover of its 18-story property, including a double-height stone and glass lobby, two-story retail storefronts, a new aluminum façade cladding system, new windows, a modernized elevator system and cabs and a new cooling tower.
