"It's going to be an exciting next six months," Huber tells GlobeSt.com. He calls his new role at Carter "a natural fit" given the firm's lengthy history of working with corporate clients and his own experience in developing high-performance, sustainable buildings.

Huber was with Gaines Township, MI-based Workstage for the past decade until the company ceased operations earlier this year. Previously, he served as business development director with New York City-based Gale International, a company he describes as similar to Carter.

Established in 1958, Carter has a strong track record of providing development services for companies. Its long-standing client list includes BellSouth (now AT&T), Blue Cross Blue Shield, SunTrust Banks, CNL and Progress Energy.

"Brad's relationships will create new business opportunities for Carter in the important corporate sector," says Scott Taylor, Carter president. "Carter has a proud history of working with large corporations, and bringing Brad on will help us regain momentum in that area."

Besides re-establishing Carter's brand in the corporate development arena, Huber says he wants to generate emphasis on sustainable buildings, which are becoming more of a standard for companies desiring new office space. His job, he says, is to explain to companies that real estate can become a profit center if built properly, rather than an overhead expense.

"We were out there developing green buildings before they became all the rage," Huber says of his prior experience with Workstage, adding that he wants to be able to transfer his knowledge and contacts to Carter. "Companies aren't just out looking for green buildings, they are demanding green buildings."
