HENDERSON, NV-Henderson City officials are recommending the annexation of 33 acres directly across M Resort, a new suburban casino-resort development that sits well south of the airport at Las Vegas Boulevard at St. Rose Parkway, just inside the city limits of Henderson, according to documents compiled for the City Council’s review. Most of the property is controlled by M Resort investor Raymond Shapiro and is zoned tourist commercial, which allows for casino development.

A public hearing on the issue was pulled from last week’s agenda after the city attorney determined that the city’s charter requires that an annexation ordinance to be effective within 30 days of the public hearing. “That is not enough time to enter into a development agreement,” the city attorney’s office stated in its letter.”
