Kaplan's higher education division, known as Kaplan University, signed a long-term lease at 12650 Ingenuity Drive last November with plans to hire up to 750 local residents over the next four years for its online student support center. The two-story building opened in 1999 at the 1,000-acre business park, a cooperative between the University of Central Florida and Orange County aimed at attracting research and development tenants.

Central Florida Research Park, located between Downtown Orlando and the city's international airport, has a variety of corporate tenants in high-tech information, intelligence and defense-related industries. The building occupied by Kaplan has a self-contained data room with redundant power supply and special protection features in case of roof leakage or severe weather.

"This state-of-the-art building expands our portfolio of high-quality properties with strong tenancies in the Orlando area," Phil Kianka, executive vice president and chief operating officer of CBRE Realty Trust, stated in a release. The REIT seeks to invest in income-producing commercial properties in major metropolitan areas of the US, Western Europe and Asia.
