A 100-room location is set to open in Asheville later this year, with additional deals signed in Charlotte, Wilmington and Winston-Salem. The Durham hotel is owned and managed by Shrijee LLC under a license agreement with IHG.

Located near Interstate 40, the Hotel Indigo Durham is convenient to both Raleigh and Durham, as well as the three institutions making up the Research Triangle—Duke University, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and North Carolina State University. The 7,000-acre Research Triangle Park is home to more than 170 companies.

"As a world-renowned center for innovation, Research Triangle Park is an ideal location to introduce our innovative boutique brand to our guests in North Carolina," says Gina LaBarre, IHG vice president of brand delivery for the Americas. She adds that Indigo's design program will allow each of the five new hotels in the Tar Heel State to offer its own unique experience.

Durham becomes the 31st Hotel Indigo to open worldwide, with more than 60 additional hotels under development. By the end of this year, Indigo expects to almost double its footprint in the US, opening properties in New York City, San Antonio, TX and Miami Beach.
