Stress Test
The banks are not the place to find stress tests. The unsung demon of this current recession, for most of us, is stress and it involves every facet of life–business and personal. Professionals in almost every segment of the real estate business are dealing with stress at a significant level, as they watch careers derail, job security becoming an illusion or a large investment going south for lack of financing. It’s a real issue, and one not to take lightly in arduous recession, because it is around every corner. Stress symptoms may be affecting your health, even though you might not realize it. You may think illness is to blame for that nagging headache, your frequent forgetfulness or your decreased productivity at work. But sometimes stress is to blame. Indeed, stress symptoms can affect your body, your thoughts and feelings, and your behavior. When you recognize common stress symptoms, it’s critical that you deal with it because, very quietly, it can ultimately create serious and debilitating illness. I know this isn’t a terribly upbeat column, but I felt it is worth pointing out the obvious, as we continue to deal with the effects of this troubled economy. The good news is that in next week’s column, I’ll be forecasting the upturn in the new post-Labor Day business year, so stay tuned.
