Finance Veteran Mazzei Joins BofA

NEW YORK CITY-A CMBS powerhouse at both Lehman and Barclays, Mazzei will oversee real estate debt financing at Bank of America Merrill Lynch.

NEW YORK CITY-Finance veteran Michael Mazzei has left Barclays Capital to join Bank of America Merrill Lynch as managing director and head of commercial real estate debt capital markets. He will be based in New York City and will report to Michael Nierenberg, head of global mortgages and securitized products, the company announced Thursday.

Mazzei will be responsible for the origination and securitization of debt financing for real estate companies, including commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS), syndicated loans and term loans. In a statement, Nierenberg says Mazzei’s hiring “underscores our commitment to the CMBS and commercial real estate debt markets, and to the opportunities that are ahead.”
