Learn Charter School Subleases 17,000 SF

CHICAGO-The Marillac House subleased to the college prep elementary school some of its space, with expansion options, at 212 S. Francisco St.

CHICAGO-Learn Charter School has subleased 17,000 square feet from The Marillac House for its third city location. The college prep elementary school, which serves 1,000 students in North Lawndale and East Garfield, will also have expansion options for its new space at 212 S. Francisco St.

Nonprofit family advocacy organization The Marillac House was represented pro bono by Jones Lang LaSalle’s Fred Schuler and Ben Erskine, while Greg Gerber, chairman of the Learn Charter School’s Board of Directors, also assisted in the deal.

“We were really pleased that we could help Marillac House by identifying a new revenue source, and at the same time bring together two organizations with complementary missions,” says Schuler, managing director with JLL. “There are a lot of opportunities in the marketplace for companies – both for profit and non-profits – to save money on overhead costs such as real estate. The opportunity lies in being creative and thinking outside the box.”
