Plans call for 29 units to open in the fourth quarter, on the way to 1,000 units in the US, said Sally Smith, president and CEO. The current pipeline projects unit 13% to 15% unit growth in 2010, with more company—owned units debuting in the second half. Franchise openings will be even throughout the year.
"[That] combined with the possibility of international expansion gives us the basis for a global brand," Smith said.
The remodeling of existing company stores will be complete sometime in 2011. The company also has begun opening airport locations, with its first at Houston Hobby. A second airport location is to open at John F. Kennedy International in New York by year-end.
For the quarter, revenues were $132.7 million, up 25.1% from the same quarter of last year. Same-store sales increased 0.8% at company-owned restaurants and 1.9% at franchised restaurants. Net earnings were $6.9 million, up 50.4% from the year ago-quarter.
Buffalo Wild Wings has 633 locations in 41 states.
