The 620,000-square-foot building, which opened in 1985 at 950 E. Paces Ferry Road, is owned by the California State Teachers' Retirement System and managed by CB Richard Ellis, which worked with CalSTRS investment advisor CBRE Investors on sustainable practices. Various eco-friendly measures were added to the building, such as single-stream recycling for paper, plastic, aluminum and glass, as well as plumbing and lighting retrofits.

"Sustainability has been a primary focus for the building management team," says Marcy Moneypenny, managing director of CBRE's Asset Services Division. "This certification could not have been achieved without support from the tenants, the building owner and our service partner providers."

Atlanta Plaza is currently 70% occupied, with asking rents posted at $28 per square foot. The building received its certification shortly after Two Alliance Center in Buckhead was awarded LEED gold status as a new 20-story office building.
