One of the Boston-based organization's top three brokers, Mixer was named to the Colliers USA Board of Directors at the beginning of the year, and sits on its international governance and finance committees. He also sits on the board of directors of Colliers largest franchisee, Colliers Parrish International, and heads up Colliers' Resort & Gaming Group.
Mixer tells GlobeSt.com that compared to Carolyn Sidor, the day-to-day operations leader for Colliers International as a whole, "my role [as chairman] is more strategic, looking out for growth opportunities and perfecting the platforms used by Colliers brokers in the US and abroad."Colliers International has 293 affiliate offices in 61 countries in the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Greater Asia. Colliers Parrish International, based in San Jose, CA, has 11 offices in California and Nevada, including the Las Vegas office.
With his added duties for the overarching organization as well as for Colliers Parrish, Mixer says he no longer has time for individual brokerage work. Instead, he is part of a three-person team in Las Vegas that includes brokers Michael Argier and Sonia Kelly, both of whom are also members of the Resort & Gaming group.
Mixer co-founded Colliers Las Vegas office in 1993 with James Stuart, handed it off in 1997, took it back last year, handed it off in January took it back again in August, this time "on a permanent basis," he told GlobeSt.com at the time [for that story, click here.
The person he handed it off to and took it back from six months later was Michael Campbell, director of sales for Lennar Homes prior to taking the assignment and, prior to that, the managing partner of First Residential RE Services and division manager of Coleman Construction and Coleman Homes in Nevada and California. Campbell's short tenure with Colliers Las Vegas was not explained, though Mixer said the decision was "mutual" and "on good terms."
The hiring of Campbell was prompted by the departure of Vic Donovan, who was managing director of the office from 2003 to 2008. He left the network for the opportunity to become a principal with NAI Global and executive managing director of its local office.
