"The Manhattan office market presents so many compelling options for tenants, so we carried out an exhaustive analysis for Ovation Travel Group," says Annie Yao, associate director of FirstService Williams' global corporate services division, in a release. "We have been actively assessing their options for over a year and successfully prevented them from being a captive audience." Yao represented Ovation in negotiations, along with FSW colleagues Michael T. Cohen and Mark Friedman. Landlord Samco Properties provided in-house representations, says a spokesman for FSW.
EVP Sunil Mahtani says in the release that Samco offered his company "compelling terms" to renew in place. The company will continue occupying space on the 10th and 11th floors of 71 Fifth; the lease was due to expire in January of next year.
A shareholder in the global travel network Radius, Ovation has 90 offices throughout the US. The 11-story 71 Fifth is located at the corner of 15th Street in the Union Square submarket. Its major office tenant is MJM Creative, a unit of the WPP group, and there is a Pier 1 Imports store at ground level.
