Big League Dreams will hire 175 workers to staff the facilities at Freedom Park, which is at 850 N. Mojave Rd., according to the city, which held job fairs for the new facilities at the park in December. The Big League Dreams complex is a part of the city's overall $47.2 million plan to upgrade the 68-acre Freedom Park.

In the spring, a new $5.3 million swimming pool is expected to open at Freedom Park. There also are plans for two new soccer fields and to redo the park's walking trails.

The city entered into its agreement with Big League Dreams several years ago. The deal calls for the Chino-based firm to operate the sports complex and take care of expenses at no cost to the city, with the city and Big League Dreams sharing in the profits from the complex.

Big League Dreams is a developer and operator of amateur recreational sports facilities in the country. Its ball parks are baseball and softball fields that are designed and built as replicas of famous, historic major league stadiums. Among the replicas it has produced are Chicago's Wrigley Field, New York's Yankee Stadium, Boston's Fenway Park, the Polo Grounds, Forbes Field, Ebbets Field, Tiger Stadium and Crosley Field.
