Rufrano comes to C&W from Australian-based Centro Properties Group, where he has been CEO since 2008. He starts in his new capacity at C&W on March 22, following the completion of his tenure at Centro, and also is being appointed to C&W's board of directors.
In a statement, Carlo Barel di Sant'Albano, CEO of EXOR S.p.A., C&W's majority shareholder, says Rufrano's "extensive real estate experience and management background make him the ideal leader to grow the company and further expand the brand worldwide. We are confident that Glenn has the vision to lead Cushman & Wakefield, creating meaningful value for our clients, employees and other stakeholders."
Prior to joining Centro, Rufrano served as CEO of New Plan Excel Realty Trust Inc. from 2000 to 2007. He was a cofounder of the O'Connor Group and spent 17 years with the firm, now known as O'Connor Capital Partners, which has invested internationally in real estate. He also spent more than five years at Landauer Associates Inc. where he was involved in the sale of some of the most prominent office properties in the US.
Rufrano says in a release that C&W "is one of the most recognized and respected commercial real estate services firms in the world, and I am looking forward to contributing to its growth." He serves on the boards of General Growth Properties and New York University's Real Estate Institute, and was previously a director of Trizec Properties Inc., an office REIT, and Criimi Mae Inc., a mortgage REIT.
