Medical Company Takes 174,000 SF

CHARLOTTE, NC-When San Diego-based ResMed Corporation, a medical equipment company, was looking for a site for its distribution warehouse for the eastern half of the US, its executives looked for one close to major expressways to facilitate easy distribution to customers east of the Mississippi. They also wanted to be close to a port city, because ResMed gets its equipment from Australia where the majority of its manufacturing is done, says Dave Reeves, partner with NAI Earle Furman of Greenville, who represented the lessee in its negotiations for 174,000 square feet of warehouse space near Greenville, SC.

Metropolitan Greenville is the first industrial community near Charleston, says Reeves. The actual warehouse is in Duncan, South Carolina, just outside of Greenville, which is roughly 200 miles from the port of Charleston, and close to I-95, I-85 and I-26, which are pluses, says Reeves.

In addition to logistics considerations, ResMed likes the fact that Spartanburg County will be offering tax credits once the company creates a certain number of jobs, says Constance Bienfait, director of investor relations at ResMed.
