The entry into Chicago's market is a test for the Atlanta-based company at creating urban restaurants. Chick-Fil-A will build the first location in the city and has plans for three suburban restaurants before the end of the year. Another eight locations could be opened before the end of 2011.
The city's location has yet to be made public, but Chick-Fil-A will open stores in Aurora, Orland Park and Wheaton.
Chick-Fil-A usually opens restaurants in shopping malls or suburban locations. But in Chicago, the fast food place is looking to reach customers walking through Millennium Park, Lincoln Park and Wrigleyville.
