PHILADELPHIA-Urban Outfitters continues to over-perform during the recession. The apparel and home furnishings retailer posted a 16% sales increase at stores open for at least a year during its first quarter.
The company’s 35 Free People stores rose 25%. Its 142 Antrhopologie stores were up 22%, and the retailer’s 157 namesake locations increased 9%.
Urban Outfitters’ total sales hit $480 million, rising 25% from the same year-ago period. The retailer will release its full earnings report on May 13.
