DALLAS-Transwestern has hired Karra Guess to lead the firm’s Central region Tenant Advisory Services practice. In her new role as managing director, Guess will serve office clients throughout the Dallas/Ft. Worth marketplace, as well as clients in other markets, and will oversee a team of more than 26 tenant representation brokers.
Prior to joining Transwestern, Guess was employed by Jones Lang LaSalle/The Staubach Company. She held a variety of positions of increasing responsibility within The Staubach Company, beginning in 1992, ultimately serving as senior vice president and chief operating officer of The Staubach Company.
This is a new position within the firm, according to Jack Eimer, president of Transwestern’s Central region. He tells GlobeSt. that tenant representation has become a larger part of the firm’s overall business since its acquisition of NAI Stoneleigh Huff Brous McDowell several years ago. Today, the business accounts for 25% to 30% of the firm’s local revenue.
Eimer says Transwestern’s local executive committee wanted to grow its tenant representation business and believed it needed its own separate leadership to move the group forward. “When we started talking about bringing someone on to head up the group, Karra’s name was the first one that came up,” he notes.
Eimer and Guess spent about four months doing “due diligence”, Eimer says, to make sure they were a good match from a culture standpoint. “We were bringing her in to oversee a group of proven producers and partners in our firm, so it wasn't as easy as bringing in just anyone,” he adds. “And to her credit, Karra was concerned about many of the same things.”
Eimer is looking forward to Guess sharing with the Transwestern tenant rep team the processes and approach to business that she refined at Staubach. “We hope she will integrate that with our culture and make a successful service line for our firm even more successful.”
Guess holds master’s degrees in business administration from Columbia Graduate School of Business and London Business School, and a bachelor’s of business administration from Southern Methodist University.
