HOUSTON-Robert Duncan, chairman of Transwestern and Transwestern Investment Co., has been elected to the Texas Business Hall of Fame and will be recognized at the organization’s 28th Annual Induction Dinner in November in San Antonio.

The Texas Business Hall of Fame recognizes the state’s business leaders who have made outstanding contributions in their field and in the communities in which they live. Duncan founded Transwestern in 1978, directing Transwestern’s expansion from a small Texas-focused development company into a national real estate investment and operating company.

“Robert’s talent, resolve and innate leadership skills have been recognized by this organization due to Transwestern’s remarkable performance over its 32 year existence,” says Larry Heard, president & CEO of Transwestern.

Duncan is a member of the Real Estate Roundtable, World Presidents' Organization and Urban Land Institute. He served on the advisory council for the University of Texas and is a founding member of the Real Estate Center. Additionally, he sat on the advisory board for the Greater Houston Community Foundation and is a past director of the Greater Houston YMCA.

Duncan attended the University of Texas at Austin, earning a B.B.A. degree in the Business Honors Program, M.B.A. degree in Finance and a L.L.B. degree.

In addition to Duncan, other Business Hall of Fame 2010 inductees include: Carlos Alvarez, president of The Gambrinus Company; W.A. “Tex” Moncrief, Jr. and W.A. “Monty” Moncrief (posthumously) of Moncrief Oil/Montex Drilling Co.; and Harvey Najim, chairman and CEO of Sirius Computer Solutions.

Clements, Jr.; Jerry Jones, owner of the Dallas Cowboys; Michael Dell, founder of Dell Computer Corporation; Stanley Marcus, of Neiman Marcus department stores; and Ross Perot, former CEO of EDS.
