I just received the current issue of Business Week but did not recognize it because it is now Bloomberg Businessweek. What a shock. I didn’t know that the Mayor of New York City now controls what was once my Dad’s favorite business weekly. This is on the heels of my perusal of today’s Wall Street Journal, only to find that it incorporated a New York Section, an obvious attempt to further crush the New York Times, the venerable daily that is getting thinner and thinner. And then, a couple of months ago, Gourmet Magazine, one of the best of the culinary issues on the stand, went out of business. If we real estate types believe that we’re having tough times, try the print media. It’s a carnage. A bit closer to home is the impact of digital media on our business. A word to the wise; contemplate how your corner of the real estate business will be rendered less relevant, or go kaput, like Gourmet.
