MIAMI-New condos to begin construction in Miami’s Brickell area. Sounds like a fantasy headline from 2005. But this project is no mirage, according to a Miami Herald report. Next month, the developer of SkyPalace, a 35-story condominium atop a Publix supermarket in the Mary Brickell Village mixed-use development, is set to begin work on the development after three years of delay.

Although SkyPalace--which is being developed by real estate developer, philanthropist and former First Lady of New York State Evangeline Gouletas--was planned in the early 2000s and preconstruction sales started in 2004, problems pulling permits and the start of the financial meltdown delayed the project.
