AUSTIN, TX-Campus Advantage has hired Carol Peddy as a vice president of operations. In her new role, the student housing veteran will oversee roughly 20 communities across the United States from her base in Dallas.
Campus Advantage offers management, development, acquisition and consulting services for student housing. The company currently manages more than 30,000 beds, at 52 locations in 21 states nationwide.
Most recently, Peddy handled property operations and marketing for Dallas-based Riverstone Residential, one of the largest third-party management firms in the nation. Prior to her position with Riverstone, she spent several years with JPI Inc., first working with traditional multifamily and then student housing.
Peddy held senior management responsibilities including senior vice president and national marketing director. While at JPI, she grew the third-party student living management business by 70%, according to Mike Peter, president and CEO of Campus Advantage.
Facebook brought Peddy and Campus Advantage together, Peddy says. John Kerrigan, a former JPI colleague and current executive with Catalyst, which is one of Campus Advantage’s partners, contacted her via Facebook to let her know about the job. He then forwarded her information to Campus Advantage.
“When I left Riverstone, I was not looking to go back to student housing,” Peddy notes “But when I talked with the people at Campus Advantage, I loved their passion about what they do and the philosophy of the company. I walked away wowed.”
At Campus Advantage, Peddy says she will be a sounding board and mentor to the individuals who report to her, making sure they and their assets are successful. She will also focus on making sure “all the clients are happy.”
Peddy’s other leadership roles include Property Company of America, Jacques-Miller and Tracy Management Company Inc. She earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Oklahoma in Norman, OK.
