TUCSON-One of the hottest new restaurant concepts is expanding in Arizona.

Five Guys Burgers and Fries has entered the Tucson market with a 3,151-square-foot location at Campbell Plaza and is negotiating for two other locations within the city. The chain, which opened its first restaurant in Arlington, Va. in 1986, ranked as the fastest-growing restaurant chain in the nation last year, according to data compiled by restaurant consulting firm Technomic. It plans to open 200 stores this year.

D&J Holdings LLC of Tucson, the area franchisee for Five Guys Burgers and Fries, inked a 10-year deal for roughly 50% of a pad building that is part of the 190,677-square-foot power center. The building, which is located at the intersection of Campbell Avenue and Glenn Street, was formerly occupied by Hollywood Video, according to Nancy McClure of CB Richard Ellis’ Tucson office.
