SAN FRANCISCO-Jones Lang LaSalle Inc. has promoted Bob Hunt to managing director of its public institutions practice for the Pacific Northwest region. Hunt, previously a senior vice president in the firm’s brokerage division, assumes the newly created position immediately.

Hunt will be based in San Francisco, where he will direct the firm’s expanding relationships with federal agencies and public sector clients at the state and municipal levels, according to a prepared statement. “Bob has many years of experience advising public and government clients on workplace and real estate issues, understands their motivations and concerns, and will play a valuable role in further expanding our relationships with institutions in the region,” says Elizabeth Hearle, market director for the Pacific Northwest.
According to Hunt, the movement is critical for state and local governments “who are collectively experiencing the worst fiscal crisis in recent history, as are the educational institutions that rely on their financial support. Federal, state and local government must learn to provide the same level of service with less capital and fewer resources. Real estate is one of the most valuable assets owned by public institutions and now, more than ever, public institutions should examine their real property portfolios for cost savings and revenue generating opportunities.”

Hunt brings more than 27 years of experience in helping organizations develop real estate and workplace strategies that address a wide range of needs, including portfolio planning, development advisory, public private partnership formation, facilities planning and workplace innovation. His skill set includes translating organizational needs into business cases with actionable criteria to support the planning, implementation and measurement of real estate and workplace strategies. He also has extensive experience working with public sector clients on the west coast including the Transbay Joint Powers Authority, US General Services Administration, the cities of Seattle and San Diego, and the counties of Marin, Napa and San Mateo.
