Resume Details - 07.13.2010 We’ve passed the mid-year mark and the good news is that there are tangible signs of recovery. Even the economic storm clouds over Europe appear to be subsiding. However, there are still plenty of professionals out of work and pounding the pavement looking for new opportunities. As we head into the expected pick-up in hiring activity in the Fall, it’s important to revisit the importance of a quality resume. It’s the first line of presentation to an employer and recruiter, and I can’t tell you how poorly a vast number of resumes are prepared. Poor formatting, typos, misspelled words, you name it, most have it. The other bit of advice goes to the executives who are gainfully employed and haven’t had a resume prepared in decades. Now wondering to themselves if their platform will survive the wave of consolidation or being approached about emerging opportunities; it behooves every professional to have a well prepared and presented resume (and other background information) in the drawer and ready to go. And one last suggestion: Spend a few dollars to have a professional support the effort. It’s a cheap yet important investment.
