PHILADELPHIA-NorthMarq has added a three-person investment sales team in Philadelphia. Real estate executives Joe Verdejo and Jim Sheehan are joining the company as senior vice presidents, with Valerie Falco serving as the team’s client coordinator. They will focus on representing sellers and buyers of multifamily properties in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware.
“Greater Philadelphia is an important location to add to our growing national investment sales practice,” says Mike Ohmes, executive vice president, transaction and advisory services for NorthMarq. “We look forward to the synergy that will develop between this experienced investment sales team and our existing capital markets and real estate advisory professionals in this location.” He adds that the company has grown its investment sales business in several markets including Minneapolis, Southern California, Dallas and Washington, DC. “We are currently engaged in a strategy to expand our investment practice over the next few years,” he relates, adding that over time, the firm will have the ability to attract additional leaders in similar posts around the country. “Our plan is to continue to growth the business in a thoughtful way.”
Verdejo began his real estate brokerage career in 1985 with the Jackson-Cross Co., which became Insignia/ESG and then was acquired by CB Richard Ellis. During his tenure there, he was consistently recognized as one of the company’s top producers. At Cushman & Wakefield he served as senior director in the company’s capital markets group.
Sheehan has many years of experience in the real estate industry as well, most recently serving as a senior director for Cushman & Wakefield’s Capital Markets group. Prior to that, he also worked with CB Richard Ellis and its precedent companies, Insignia/ESG and Jackson-Cross, and was consistently named to the company’s list of top producers.
In 2000, Verdejo and Sheehan were recipients of the national Insignia/ESG award for “Capital Advisors Transaction of the Year” in recognition of leading the $135.7-million sale of a 2,113-unit, five-property multifamily portfolio known as the Gateside Portfolio. At that time, this represented the largest multifamily transaction ever completed in the Philadelphia marketplace.
As the team’s client coordinator, Falco brings to her role more than 10 years of real estate experience. At Cushman & Wakefield, she was a member of the Capital Markets and the Apartment Brokerage Services groups, and prior to that helped develop two corporations specializing in rental properties and renovation of single-family homes.
