CHICAGO-According to MFP Research, apartment occupancies nationwide have doubled in the first six months of 2010 compared to that of the whole of 2009. In the period between January 2010 and June 2010, the number of apartment occupancies in 64 key US cities went up by 215,000.

The National Multi Housing Council's quarterly index of occupancies soared in the latest quarter. Chicago market is more balanced with city vacancy rate at 6% and suburban vacancy rate at 5.5%. For the full story, go to Chicago Tribune.
