PHOENIX-Sperry Van Ness’ local office has changed hands and is now owned by local real estate professionals Neil Sherman, Shari A. Tucker-Gasser, Perry Laufenberg, Danny Lee, Robert Titov and Thomas McPherson.
The team joined forces to purchase the office from Guardian Management LLC, which acquired the Phoenix location from Sperry Van Ness International along with SVN offices in Southern California. The office will offer retail and office leasing, as well as multifamily, industrial, retail and office property investment brokerage services.
Local sources say Guardian Management had planned to shutter the Phoenix office, but a group of existing SVN professionals stepped in to acquire the franchise.
“Some people would wonder why we would take over a franchise given the challenges in the commercial real estate market,” Sherman acknowledges. “In my mind, if you’re an opportunist, this is single best time to take over an office with a national, recognizable brand. We’ve had a successful track record in the past, and we have an opportunity to return to a revenue-producing office again.”
Most recently, Sherman served as co-founder of Axxiom Partners LLC, a multifamily brokerage firm. For the past 12 years, Tucker-Gasser has specialized in retail investment sales and leasing in the Phoenix market, all while with Sperry Van Ness. Laufenberg rejoins Sperry Van Ness after previously serving as designated broker for Axxiom Partners, while Lee also was employed at Axxiom, specializing in multifamily.
