STR: China, UK, UAE Lead in Hotel Development

LONDON-Among locally-based STR Global’s findings, China reports a total active pipeline of 139,193 rooms, with 98,515 rooms in the "In Construction" phase.

LONDON-STR Global recently released its July 2010 results for its hotel development pipeline research. Key findings, according to data compiled by the London-based company included: For the Middle East/Africa regions, the United Arab Emirates reported the largest number of rooms in the total active pipeline (55,165 rooms), among the countries in the region; For the Asia/Pacific region, China reported the largest number of rooms in the total active pipeline and in the “In Construction” phase; and among the countries in Europe, the United Kingdom ended the month with the largest number of rooms in the total active pipeline with 26,653 rooms.
