ATLANTA-Tampa-based Franklin Street has acquired The Smith Attaway Co. LLC. Sean Attaway Molloy, president of the Atlanta-based brokerage firm, will join Franklin Street as a partner and serve as the company’s broker of record and senior director of its Real Estate Services division.

A respected Atlanta-area commercial real estate professional, Molloy has closed more than $135 million worth of real estate in his career. Molloy will help Franklin Street continue its aggressive growth in Atlanta, focusing on disposition and acquisition of multi-tenant shopping centers and single-tenant net-leased investments.

“As part of our aggressive expansion over the past couple of years, we seek out top professionals in different markets,” Andrew Wright, CEO and managing partner at Franklin Street, tells GlobeSt.com. “Today more than ever, real estate investors, operators, and tenants need experts. Sean is an expert.”

Molloy launched his commercial real estate career with Marcus and Millichap of Atlanta as a retail investment specialist with the National Retail Group, prior to opening his own firm. Molloy has worked with developers on site selection throughout the Southeast, while conducting financial and functional feasibility analyses for retail and mixed-use developments.

Molloy tells GlobeSt.com the decision to join forces with Franklin Street wasn’t simple because had to walk away from the business he birthed. Ultimately, he realized Franklin Street offered his clients a stronger platform that would elevate customer service across a wider region. Molloy says the collaborative approach helps get deals done.

“In a highly competitive market, brokers are not as willing to work together,” Molloy says. “It’s different at Franklin Street. I went out with one of my new colleagues to a meeting with a shopping center owner to discuss leasing. The collaboration has already opened up more business in the market. It’s good timing, with cap rates starting to compress and capital coming off the sidelines.”
