SHIPPENSBURG, PA-Campus Apartments, a Philadelphia-based student-housing developer, will upgrade Shippensburg University's on-campus housing at a first-phase cost of $63 million. The project, which also includes a new wellness center and honor college facilities is set for completion in the fall of 2012.

This is the second development deal in the state that Campus Aparments' management announced this month that it inked. It is also building a 413-room freshman residence hall at St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia.

The local project will break ground next year. It is comprised of three residential buildings that will accommodate 900 students in addition to the honors college.

Shippensburg has about 8,500 undergraduate and graduate students. It is located about 45 miles southeast of Harrisburg.

Campus Apartments operates about 26,000 beds across the country serving 70 educational institutions. The firm has more than $1 billion of assets under management.
