EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ-There are now five serious bidders for Xanadu, and the winner could be announced within the month, Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno said at a recent event sponsored by the Meadowlands Liberty Convention and the Visitors Bureau, according to a recent report at NorthJersey.com. The long-stalled retail and entertainment retail project was taken over by a lending group last month.

“There are five suitors for Xanadu--five,” Guadagno said of the project. “And as I stand here today, I can assure you that in the next month or so--subject, of course, to all appropriate approvals--you’ll see some action on Xanadu. And it will be all favorable for the Meadowlands.”

The comments, which Guadagno said were based on information supplied by Jon F. Hanson--an adviser to Gov. Chris Christie--were met with applause but also some skepticism.
