TEANECK, NJ-The New Jersey real estate community is mourning the loss of Cassidy Turley president David T. Houston Jr., who was previously the president of Colliers Houston & Co. since 1978.

Acting as a licensed real estate broker and consultant, Houston worked with some of the largest and most prestigious corporations and developers in the US in meeting their real estate goals and objectives including Johnson & Johnson, RJR Nabisco, General Motors, Becton Dickinson, General Electric, Union Carbide, Marcal Paper, W.W. Grainger, UPS and BASF.

Throughout his illustrious 30-plus-year career, he was responsible for the sale and leasing of some of the largest industrial transactions and office leases in New Jersey. Houston was also recognized as an expert in the evaluation and marketing of commercial real estate by such organizations as the New Jersey Tax Court, Superior Court, County Tax Boards and Condemnation Commissioners.

In addition to serving as a trustee of NAIOP for 20 years, Houston was president of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors and a district vice president and president of the New Jersey chapter. In addition, he was elected to the Executive Committee as well as the Board of Directors of the National Association of Realtors, chairman of the Board at Colliers USA, director of New Jersey's Association of Realtors and a trustee and chairman of the SIOR Education Foundation. In 2009, he was presented with NAIOP New Jersey’s Lifetime Achievement award.

A graduate of Dartmouth College, Houston held an MBA in finance and accounting from Columbia University, where he won several awards for academic excellence and was elected to Beta Gamma Sigma. On a personal note, Houston was my first interviews when I began at Real Estate Forum and GlobeSt.com, and it remains one of the best.
