SAN FRANCISCO-Grubb & Ellis Co. has added John Mix as senior vice president and Bay Area leader of the company’s financial services asset management group. In his new role, Mix will be responsible for the marketing and account management of the company’s financial services asset management group, which offers strategic counsel and a full range of services to financial institutions and special servicers looking to create value through their real estate-owned portfolios.

“John brings a wealth of long-term financial relationships and is very well recognized throughout the San Francisco Bay Area,” says Mark Geisreiter, executive vice president, and regional managing director of Grubb & Ellis’ Bay Area real estate services operations. “We couldn’t be more pleased to have him join us.”

Geisreiter adds that “His addition is consistent with our strategy to substantially increase the services we provide our Bay Area clients.” Mix is one of 34 real estate services professionals to join Grubb & Ellis in the Bay Area since January 2010.

With more than 25 years of experience, Mix joins G&E from US Bank, where he spent three years as a market manager, responsible for opening the company’s San Francisco commercial real estate office. Under his management, the San Francisco office became one of the company’s most profitable operations. Prior to joining US Bank, he held the position of division head of the San Francisco office of LaSalle Bank Corp. He began his career in 1984 with JP Morgan Chase, where he spent 22 years. While with the firm, his roles included managing a portfolio valued at $1 billion for publicly traded REITS, as well as hospitality and gaming companies.

The financial services asset management group provides receivership, property management, transaction and valuation services for a portfolio of assets valued at approximately $1.8 billion. Through the use of integrated, holistic solutions, the group provides a standardized approach and has established best-in-class processes that create significant value for financial services clients.
